Tesla, an American multinational automotive giant that has built a reputation for pushing green mobility across the world has recently shared electric vehicle production numbers for the last quarter. According to its report, the company has delivered 254, 695 electric vehicles worldwide in the second quarter of 2022. As per Bloomberg, the company missed the target of delivering 261,181 electric vehicles in the second quarter as projected earlier.

This fall in delivery is caused due to COVID-related shutdowns in one of its factories in Shanghai, and supply chain issues due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Tesla is also facing high costs of building new factories in Austin, Texas, and near Berlin.

On the positive side, this delivery figure represents a 26.5% increase in year-over-year sales growth which is very optimistic news for the company. Also, It is interesting to note here that in the first quarter of 2022, Tesla delivered a record 310,048 cars and gained the attention of everyone in the industry.

“We plan to grow our manufacturing capacity as quickly as possible. Over a multi-year horizon, we expect to achieve 50% average annual growth in vehicle deliveries,” said one of the officials of the company. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla said earlier this year that he expects production in the third and fourth quarters will be “substantially higher” and that Tesla is on track to expand production to more than 1.5 million vehicles this year.
