Hyundai Plans to Invest $5.5 Billion in the USA
Hyundai, an eminent South Korean automaker took a major decision to strengthen its resolve toward electric mobility. The company stated in a press release that it will invest $5.5 billion to set up its first dedicated electric vehicle manufacturing plant in the USA.
The upcoming plant will be situated in Savannah, Georgia, in Bryan County and will become operational by the first half of 2025. This huge investment in electric vehicle setup will not just create a greater push for green mobility but also spur economic growth in the region. It is believed that this new development will help create 8,100 new jobs. The proposed plant will have an annual production capacity of 3,00,000 vehicles, one of the company’s officials said in a statement.
Recently the government has set an optimistic target for electric vehicle mobility. According to the government plan, half of the auto sales by 2030 should be generated from electric vehicles. This decision is thus seen as a very positive step in the desired direction.“Hyundai is accelerating its electrification efforts with the global target to sell 3.23 million full-electric vehicles annually by 2030,” the press release states.
