Cisco acquired Acacia for $4.5 billion
In March 2021, Cisco announced the completion of the acquisition of Acacia Communications Inc. Cisco, A networking giant of San Francisco acquired Acacia for $115 per share or at approximately $4.5 billion.
Cisco is a worldwide known firm in technology that powers the Internet. Cisco brings out the new possibilities by modifying the applications, securing data and empowering tech teams for a global future. However, Acacia is a producer of high speed optical interconnect technology for networking systems.
Chuck Robbins, CEO of Cisco said, “We look forward to welcoming Raj and the Acacia team to Cisco to offer our customers world-class coherent optical solutions to power the Internet for the future.” This acquisition will benefit Cisco and reinforce its commitment to optics as a critical building block that will enhance the ‘Internet for the future’ technology.
Cisco also stated that it will support the Acacia’s existing customers around the world and the new customers that want optics, digital signal processing or photonic integrated circuit modules and transceivers for use in networking products and data centers.
