Google Launches ‘Simplicity Sprint’; Aims to Boost Workforce Productivity
Eminent American multinational technology firm Google has taken a big initiative to bring positive changes in its working environment. It launched ‘Simplicity Sprint’ to boost efficiency and employee focus for the benefit of all stakeholders in current tough economic times.
Recently, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google held a meeting with Google’s full-time employees in which more than 170,000 members were present. In that meeting, Mr. Sundar raised concerns about productivity. “There are real concerns that our productivity as a whole is not where it needs to be for the headcount we have,” he added.
“I wanted to give some additional context following our earnings results, and ask for your help as well,” Pichai began, referring to the company’s Q2 earnings report. “It’s clear we are facing a challenging macro environment with more uncertainty ahead.
It is interesting to note here that Google has reported weaker than expected earnings and revenue for Q2. Revenue growth slowed to 13% in the quarter from 62% a year earlier.
The company now aims to overhaul its work culture and wants to make it more mission-focused, customer-focused, and employee-friendly as well. Google is planning to crowdsource ideas from its own employees to make this program successful.
“I would love to get all your help,” Pichai, announcing that employees could share their ideas in an internal survey till 15 Aug 2022.
