Amazon Plans to Increase its Headcount in Britain this Year

Globally renowned and one of the most highly successful business brands in the world – Amazon is going ahead with greater pace. Despite global slowdown, it is planning to expand its business operations to touch newer avenues of growth and enhance its brand authority in the market. As per the statement released by the company, it has planned to create 4,000 new permanent jobs in Britain this year. It will increase its total headcount in the region to a whopping 75,000.

In the last three years, Amazon has created 40,000 new permanent jobs, invested ‘billions of pounds’, and also helped in creating more than 410, 000 indirect jobs to support the local economy and people.

According to one eminent economic consulting firm Keystone, more than 85,000 British small and medium-sized businesses are closely associated with Amazon. They sell their products on Amazon and contribute 250,000 jobs across the U.K. Further, more than 160,000 jobs are linked with its supply chain operations.

The company will hire people for various distinct roles/departments that include software development, product management, engineering and operations teams positions in fulfillment centers, sort centers and delivery stations. Amazon is opening new fulfillment centers in Wakefield and Knowsley.

“We’re continuing to invest in talent right across the UK, from apprentices in Swansea to data scientists in Edinburgh,” John Boumphrey, Amazon UK country manager said in a statement.
